Case Study: Hunter New England Health: WBA & PGYs

The Client

Hunter New England Local Health District (HNE Health) provides public health services to the Hunter, New England and Lower Mid North Coast regions of New South Wales. With a dedication to Excellence – Every Patient, Every Time – staff are dedicated to making a genuine difference to the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve. Care and support are provided across twenty-seven hospitals; eleven multipurpose centres; forty-three community health clinics as well as services in mental, children, oral, and drugs and alcohol

The Challenge

In 2019, HNE Health was looking for a software solution that can manage various type of assessment forms (MiniCEX, DOPS, CBD, 360 Multi-score Feedback, In-Training Assessments) for their Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) and Prevocational Training (PGYs) from the Australian Medical Council (AMC). For ten years now, HNELHD have been using a paper-based method of distributing and managing our WBA and Prevocational Assessment Tools. Whilst this paper-based method had been effective over the last decade, HPrime will revolutionise the way the assessment tools will be distributed and completed in 2020 and beyond.

The Solution

H.Prime 2 software catered for the majority of HNELHD requirements. HNELHD have identified improved efficiencies of upto 70% with this cost-effective system:

  • The MiniCEX, DOPS, CBD, 360 Multi-score Feedback, In-Training assessments forms for Junior Doctors and Supervisors are pre-built in H.Prime 2 which can save your hours of work, time and costs.
  • The entire Mid Term and End Term Assessment can be completed online in mobile, Ipad or at personal computer, both by Junior Doctors and Assessors and submitted like the standard form format.
  • H.Prime 2 also lets you manage events by automated invitation, attendance records and also statistical reports on events.
  • H.Prime 2 also lets you create bulk rotation and blueprints for your hospital in a few clicks only.

HNE Health has been using our H.Prime 2 System not only for WBA assessments but also for Prevocational Training (PGY 1 and 2). The Medical Education Training Support Unit requested around 100+ customisations for their WBA Assessments for AMC which were successfully added to effectively match their needs.

The Outcome

H.Prime 2 simplifies the WBA Assessments for AMC and is easy to manage. It dramatically reduces the administration workload, streamlines processes, the digital transformation of the paper-based forms, saves time and costs and improves the effectiveness of hospital administration.
